Three Forts of Presque Isle and Interpretive Center

Erie, PA

Interpretive Master Plan

overview

Also in the plan are recommendations for creating a heritage area that interpreted the region’s maritime and market history, “Lake and Land,” and guidance for integration into region’s contiguous heritage tourism initiatives, including Ohio and New York.

This 2021 Master Plan has two main components: the reconstruction of the French, British, and American fort sites located in Erie between 1753 and 1815; and a blueprint for the development of an 30,000 sq ft. interpretive center tells the large story of Erie’s transformation from prehistoric landscape to frontier settlement to industrial city.
